TAURINE – A1073367
Gone - 5-21-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 05/21/16** TAURINE is a handsome two-tone guy who was taken to the ACC on May 11th, as a stray. His shelter photo reveals a cuddly-looking fellow, but he’s understandably nervous in the shelter and he earned an EXPNOCHILD rating during his behavior evaluation. That’s perfectly respectable and who knows, he may even mellow way out once he feels safe in his environment? That happy development will only have the potential to come about, if a FOSTER or ADOPTER is found for TAURINE, tonight!

05/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Taurine looks neutral in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Taurine remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Taurine accepts the stroke, head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting. However, after a few strokes he begins to stress meow then hisses and swats to stop the interaction. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Taurine solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he begins to hiss and swats at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Taurine becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
