SAFE 2/22/18 BEGINNER, Very Affectionate TAO NEEDS YOU ASAP! Underweight & Poor Appetite.. Tao was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Tao interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

Tao allowed some handling before trying to flee.
KNOWN HISTORY:
Tao was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Tai allowed handling during intake, but attempted to flee after.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:

Observed Behavior – very friendly, seeks attention, head butts, and purring during exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
02/16/18
Friendly and affectionate. He comes forward with a relaxed body and rubs against the kennel door. Tail erect, ears tilted forward. Leans in for rubs and allows petting all over. Didn’t mind being picked up. Very sweet.

Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:
Tao was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Tao looks at the assessor and presses his face against the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Tao remains soft and relaxed, waiting patiently by the opening.
Reaction to touch:
Tao accepts petting and slowly lifts his rear when pet. He leans in for cheek and chin rubs and begins to purr.
Reaction to being picked up:
Tao remains soft and allows handling.

S/O: BAR. SQF present. Three types of food available – all appear untouched. Normal urine in litterbox. No stool seen. No vomiting seen or reported
EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, pink mm, mild dental staining, ears WNL
HL: Normal thoracic auscultation
ABD: Soft, non tender, no masses palpated
INTEG: Dirty, stained hair coat
MS: Ambulatory x 4, underweight
UG: male

A: Underweight, GI upset, anorexic – blood work and radiographs unremarkable

P: Adding mirtazipine 1/4 tab PO once and metronidazole 0.7ml PO q12 x 5 days. Recheck tomorrow.

History :stray intake 2/16.
2/19-has been vomiting for 2 days and was not eating. Started LRS and cerenia.

Subjective: QAR, ~5% dehydrated. Not eating. No further vomiting. No csd. Small amount of U in litter box but no bm. Moved to medical for observation.

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: adult dentition, no fb under tongue, dry mm
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, bladder small and soft
U/G: MI
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, dirty hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities

Vomiting
Diarrhea once
Decreased appetite

+/- mpl secondary to poor/decreased muscle mass

Prognosis: Good

Plan: CTM for while at BACC
Continue LRS 20ml/kg SQ SID until 2/21
