***SAFE 10/17/17*** SOCIAL AND AFFECTIONATE TOWARD THE CHILD IN THE HOME – TACO WAS DUMPED FOR PERSONAL PROBLEMS!! TACO and ROSE (not listed) were dumped for owners personal problems. Taco lived with an 8 yr old child and another cat. He was friendly towards strangers. Taco is a quiet kitty and would love a new home. He has a heart murmur and should have a follow up vet check. YOU MUST RESERVE THIS HANDSOME BOY BY NOON!!

Hx: Surrendered to ACC on 9/28, no hx of health issues. Heart murmur (grade 3/6) was diagnosed at that time. No problems until this morning: open-mouth breathing and possible early URI signs were seen. S: Alert in kennel O: BAR-H, MMs pink EENT: No nasal or ocular discharge H/L: Mild consistent sniffling. Occasional open-mouth breathing. Grade 3/6 systolic heart murmur. Abd: Soft, nonpainful M/S/I: Amb x4, no lesions noted. A: 1. Heart murmur – appears to have clinical disease! Vs. non-clinical heart disease, and asthma vs. URI 2. Possible early URI signs P: 1. Move down to medical 2. CBC/chemistry and chest rads 1088

He was a gift from a family member. He was in his previous home since he was a kitten. He surrendered due to a personal problem. Socialization: He was friendly around strangers. He was affectionate towards the 8 years old in the house. He played gently with adults and children. He lived with a 2 years old female cat and was respectful towards her. He has no known bite history. Behavior: He scratched on the furniture. He enjoyed traveling outside the home inside the carrier. He enjoyed baths, brushes, and being picked up and held. He was not bothered by being placed inside the carrier. For a new family to know: He was described as a friendly and affectionate dog. His activity level was medium. He followed the previous owner around the house. He had balls and strings for toys. He was kept mostly indoors. He was very litter box trained and had an uncovered litter box filled with clumping litter. He did not have a scratching post. During intake: Taco’s eyes were dilated and ears forward. His body was close to the ground. He allowed the admissions counselor to collar him. He lay down on the counter for a picture. He then retreated quickly inside the carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Calm, quiet, lays on exam table, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/28/17 Curled up behind litter box, wide-eyed, seemed anxious. Became alert when door opened. Sniffed assess-a-hand, tolerated pets, but shifted in place and curled up tighter. Sprayed feliway. 10/1/17 Resting on shelf, soft eyes and body. Stood when door opened, started eating offered treats. Leaned and arched into pets when done. Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Taco remains relaxed lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Taco becomes alert with soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Taco becomes curious, stands with tail up, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Taco slowly leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, but at times he draws his attention on to sudden noises and lip licks in place. Reaction to being picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
