SYRUP – A1077933
Safe - 6-23-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
**SAFE 06/23/16** GORGEOUS! Everyone knows it’s almost impossible to see a decent cat photograph from the ACC, but it’s a real pity that there isn’t an entire portfolio of great shots of SYRUP. This spectacular tortie girl was taken to the ACC as a stray on June 18th, where they guesstimated her to be about 2 years old, and slapped her with an EXPNOCHILD rating. She needs a foster/adopter to make her world right again, and with some TLC plus time to decompress, she should regain her confidence and make a nice companion for some lucky person. Please advocate far and wide for SYRUP, tonight!

06/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Syrup was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Syrup was resting in her litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Syrup starts to grumble and rolls around in her litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Syrup remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Syrup seems hesitant of contact and hisses as you approach her. She quickly head butts the assessor’s hand then backs away and hisses. When pet along her body she whips around and hisses but doesn’t lash out. She allows petting and seems to appreciate contact but continues to hiss throughout the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Syrup tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
