SWIRL – A1085865
Gone - 8-24-2016 Brooklyn
***GONE 08/24/16*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY SWIRL IS GOING TO BE KILLED AT NOON FOR NO REASON AT ALL!! SWIRL was brought in by someone as a stray. He is a 3 year old boy and very handsome! SWIRL is nervous in the shelter as any cat would be, and although he allowed some gentle petting, the fact that he wasn’t friendly and jumping through hoops was enough of an excuse to put him on tonight’s list. He received and EXPNOCHILD rating but we know once he is out of the scary shelter, he will be fine. SWIRL needs a hero tonight in the form of a foster or adopter. He only has until noon to live. IF YOU CAN HELP THIS TABBY BOY TONIGHT, PLEASE OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT. CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Swirl was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He allowed the counselor to remove him from the carrier, but he attempted to flee. He was very nervous during his initial medical exam, trembling and crouching over by the back and hunches when brought out, but he allowed most handling when going very slow. Reaction to Assessor: Swirl was by the back, lying down in a neutral position. Reaction when softly spoken to: Swirl looks at the assessor, and then looks away. Reaction to cage door opening: Swirl becomes stiff and alert, his ears tilting sideways. Reaction to touch: Swirl appears extremely tense with extended hand, but remains immobile and allows touch with a slow approach. He twitches slightly when touched on his back and appears very nervous, breathing rapidly, but allowed gentle petting and did not display any further reaction. Placement Determination: Experienced, No Children Swirl tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
