02/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator reports that Sweetie was tense when he first arrived and was grumbling at the back of the kennel. He inches away with his tail lowered avoiding contact. Please note that Sweetie is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Sweetie is curled up at the back of the kennel. His body is tense and he makes eye contact with the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sweetie slow blinks and curls up hiding his face from the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Sweetie remains neutral. Reaction to touch: Sweetie’s ears bend flat and hisses when first touched. He allows petting but has a tense body with eyes focused on all movements. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Sweetie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
