SAFE 4/26/16 A volunteer writes: Susie is a big cat who is affectionate and likes petting especially on her cheeks and back of her neck. She seems a bit shy in the shelter environment but she enjoys the attention and rubs against your hand. Her previous owner says Susie is affectionate, reserved and calm. She has lived with a toddler and is tolerant of children. She also lived with a Shih Tzu that she was playful with. Susie enjoys being brushed on her back. Susie is a sweet and affectionate cat who needs a good diet and play time to lose a few pounds.

Susie also lived with a Shih Tzu that she was playful with. They could be found lying down together or Susie chasing him around the home.
Reaction to assessor: Susie looks neutral in the cage when approached by the assessor.
Reaction to door opening: Susie remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with soft eyes.
Reaction to touch: Susie stands with tail up, head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body.
Reaction to Being Picked up: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.

Matted. Calm and sweet. Lay in place, started purring when touched. Head-butted, leaned into pets, and started to roll over. Ideal event cat.

BEHAVIOR
Susie spends a lot of time sleeping in the home. She prefers spaces low to the ground like under the bed. She enjoys being pet and will allow her owner to pick her up but will attempt to escape if held too long. She Susie is accustomed to grooming herself. Her owner noted that she has a hard time grooming her back because of her size however she enjoys being brushed. When there are visitors in the home, Susie will remain in the open or run and hide. Her owner noted that she prefers when the house is quiet otherwise she will hide until the house quiets down.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Susie enjoys playing with strings and loose yarn. She will chase mice as well. She uses an old wooden speaker as her scratching post and resting spot. She uses an uncovered litter box. She eats 1 cup of Meow Mix or Alley Cat dry food 2x a day. She will sleeps anywhere in the home, normally somewhere hidden.
