I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/12/2016 from NY 11103, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

12/13/16 Monitor post-urinary obstruction. O: BARH. Eating/drinking well. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. ABD/UG: Urinary bladder small, not sensitive. Mod. amount bloody urine in litterbox, no straining observed while cat was urinating. A: Hematuria, history of urinary obstruction with no signs of re-obstruction. P: Continue antibiotics. Start Prazosin 1 mg 0.5 PO BID x 5 days. Continue to monitor while at BACC. Good prognosis with appropriate management.

12/12/16 16:06 Basic information Suri is a 1 year old neutered gray and white DSH with a possible UTI. Owner has had Suri for 10 months and is surrendering due to pet health. Socialization Suri has not lived with children or dogs and has not interacted with them. Suri has lived another cat and was relaxed and affectionate. With the other cat Suri played gently. Around strangers Suri was friendly and outgoing. Suri also played gently with adults. Behavior Suri has never had a bath before but is curious of the water and likes to watch it run. Suri isn’t bothered When being placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. Suri is afraid of getting his nails trimmed and being picked up and held. Suri is litter box trained but has been having accidents on soft material since the start of the UTI. For the new family to know Suri was described as friendly, affectionate, and playful with a high activity level. Suri enjoys attention from the owner and loves to be rubbed. When home with Suri he is either following you around or staying in his favorite spot. Suri eats wet food and was prescribed a special brand. Suri uses a hooded litter box with fresh step clumping litter. Suri didn’t have a scratching post at home but like to scratch on the mattress. When its time for bed Suri likes to sleep on the bed with you. Behavior during intake Suri was very friendly during intake. He enjoyed being pet and was curious of hius surrounding. Suri allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose body and allowed to be picked up. Very sweet boy

Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Jonah and at the time he was at the front calm and relaxed. He rubs against the cage door while meowing softly. Jonah allows all handling. Reaction to assessor: Jonah does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Jonah comes to the front of cage soliciting attention Reaction to door cage opening: Jonah remains soft and relaxed Reaction to touch: Jonah solicits petting and attention Try picking cat up: Jonah is tolerant of this type of handling but becomes tense Behavior Determination: Beginner Jonah was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Jonah is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner.

Had urinary problems starting 12/5/16; was treated for 3 days in hospital with urinary catheter, IV fluids, Phenoxybenzamine 5 mg PO q 24 hours, Clavamox 62.5 mg/ml 1.5 ml PO BID, and Baytril 22.7 mg 1.5 PO q 24 hours. On special diet: Purina Urinary St/Ox. Was originally adopted from BACC. Rabies 1 year done 2/19/16. FVRCP #1 done on 2/14/16 – no evidence that remainder of series was completed. FELV/FIV neg. on 2/19/16. Microchip scan Pos #981020017003090 O: BARH. mm=lt pink, moist, CRT<2 s. Large amount of urine in carrier. Very friendly, easy to handle. ORAL: Good dental condition, no oral lesions. EENT: No oculonasal discharge. H/L: Lungs clear. No murmurs/arrhythmias. ABD/UG: Neutered male. Abd soft, non-painful. Urinary bladder not palpable. MS: Amb x 4. Overweight body condition. INTEG: Full, clean haircoat. A: History of urinary obstruction. Clincally appears to be stable and otherwise healthy, with no signs of re-obstruction. P: Still has medications to finish: Baytril 22.7 mg 1.5 PO q 24 hours x 5 days. Clavamox 62.5 mg/ml 1 ml PO BID x 5 days. Monitor urination. Feed own diet – Purina UR. Good prognosis with appropriate management.
