*** SAFE 10/14/17 *** NEW PHOTOS! Sunshine would love to be adopted today! Sunshine is neutered and 4 years old. He needs some space so that he feels comfortable. A slow approach will work wonders for him and throwing in some play with wand toys should help him open up.

BROOKLYN CENTER

Hello, my name is Sunshine. My animal id is #7768. I am a desexed male cream tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 4 years 1 weeks old. – P

I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.

Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

Behavior Determination: Adult only

Details on my behavior are…

KNOWN HISTORY: Sunshine has lived in a home with adults and has never been around children. He approaches strangers and solicits attention from them. His previous owner reports he likes to be petted, but prefers not to be picked up. He was described as affectionate, friendly, and playful. His favorite activity is looking out the window and he loves to roam around the house. He likes to greet the owner by the door with a meow and follow them around the house. He is litter box trained and always uses his hooded litter box. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – initially curious, tail up, became fractious with little warning, striking. Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Sunshine was resting, but he perks up when approached and looks around with almond-shaped eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sunshine continues to look around, curious. Reaction to cage door opening: Sunshine remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sunshine sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows brief petting, but he nips the air near the assessor’s hand after a moment. When attempting to pet him again, he uses his paw to pat the assessor’s hand gently, but without retracting his claws. He nips and appears to be playful, but uses moderate pressure while nipping. Reaction to being picked up: Did not attempt. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social Curious POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Uncomfortable with pick up Potential challenges comments: Sunshine’s previous owner reports he does not like being picked. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking him up, especially while he is still adjusting to his new home. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experienced, adult only Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable RECOMMENDATIONS: None BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Sunshine tolerates gentle petting, but he tends to nip during interactions. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home. Recommendations Adoption Recommendations: Comments: Suitability With Children: Other: 10/02/17 Behavior: Adult only
