**SAFE 08/30/16** Two flowers in a “bouquet” of three cats who were brought to the ACC, ROSE and SUNFLOWER need New Hope rescue tonight! These frightened sweeties have already survived the euth list which is an incredible feat, but that luck has evaporated away! They have both been listed again tonight while their BFF, Tulip, has yet to face the executioner. Both SUNFLOWER and ROSE are “extremely fearful in the shelter environment,” and since the ACC doesn’t realize cats can act completely differently when they aren’t scared out of their minds, the ACC has slapped them with those New Hope ratings. Please work hard to find patient, loving FOSTER/ADOPTERS who will work with New Hope rescues to save the lives of these precious flowers, tonight!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sunflower was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Sunflower was pressed up against the back wall of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sunflower is alert and looks around wary of his surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Sunflower remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Sunflower’s eyes widen and he arches his back while inching away. He quickly darts forward and tries to flee when you attempt to make contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Sunflower is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
