***SAFE 05/17/16*** NEW HOPE RESCUE NEEDED! Sun Shine is a gorgeous 3 year old SPAYED calico. Her previous owner abandoned her, and someone was “kind” enough to drop her off at the shelter. This poor lady is terrified at the ACC. Her family turned around and walked away, not looking back. Now she’s been shoved into a cold cage, where it’s loud and scary. This beauty deserves a home where she can curl up in her own ray of Sun Shine, and snooze the day away, knowing that when she wakes her person will still be there. The ACC will KILL HER AT NOON TOMORROW for her fear! There has to be someone who can offer Sun Shine a loving hand and an understanding heart. Is that YOU? If so, please contact the Help Desk at [email protected] to begin working with a New Hope Rescue to foster/adopt her RIGHT NOW! Her last hours are slipping away, please don’t let her die alone and afraid!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Sun Shine and at the time she was tense. Sun Shine’s body was low and her ears flat. She hisses and growls loudly. Sun Shine doesn’t allow any contact. Reaction to assessor: Sun Shine does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Sun Shine does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Sun Shine becomes stiff and alert Reaction to touch: Sun Shine growls, hisses, strikes and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt due to fractious behavior Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Sun Shine seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Sun Shine may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
