Basic Information: Kitty is a 10 year old altered male domestic shorthair. She was given as a gift from a neighbor 10 years ago. Owner stated Kitty has no health concerns. Owner surrenders kitty due to house soiling.
Social Life and Personality: Kitty lived with one adult and children ages, 12 and 17 years old. Owner stated Kitty is relaxed and friendly towards everyone in the household. Kitty is outgoing towards strangers and lived with a Pit-bull and Shih Tzu. Owner stated Kitty was tolerant towards the dogs but he never been around cats. He’s indoors only and activity level is low. Owner describes Kitty as friendly, playful, mellow, confident, and independent.
Behavior: Kitty has never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. Kitty has been having litter box issues on a daily for the past year. Kitty been both urinating and defecating on sofas and beds. Owner never took Kitty to the vet for those issues and has no clue to why the cat having these problems. He was never given a bath or nail trim. Kitty enjoys brushing and being held.
For a New Family to Know: Kitty had a litter box that was hooded and uncovered. Kitty likes to follow owner around the house or be in his favorite spot which is the sofa. Owner stated Kitty likes to eat wet or dry food 5am, 4pm and 8 pm. Kitty likes to play with strings and be around people.
Intake Behavior: Upon intake Kitty was calm and relaxed. He likes head rub and quivered his tail. He scanned positive for a microchip ( in medical) and allowed all handling.
MEDICAL:
VC – GERIATRIC OVERWEIGHT GINGIVITIS
S/O: Cat is BARH
BCS 6-7/9
Grade 3/4 dental dz; missing a lot of teeth; missing upper left canine, gums swollen, concerned fx at gumline with retained root
Heart/lungs auscult wnl
Abdomen soft, non-painful
Coat wnl
A: Cat is 9yo (not geriatric), moderate-severe dental dz, approx 10-20% overweight
P: Highly recommend dental prophy (will likely need extraction of fx canine). IWR (11-12#).
Changed Med Beh from RED to GREEN – cat came to front of cage soliciting attention, let me examine him by myself with no signs of aggression
PROGNOSIS:
Good with appropriate dental care

02/07/16 Sunday (Day 1)
At the front, motionless. Very tense body. Allows petting. Flinches when touched. Turns head to wall.
02/08/16 Monday (Day 2)
At the front, paws hanging out. Sniffs hand and allows petting. Slow movements. Very cautious, tail end flickering.
