Hello, my name is Strawberry. My animal id is #17694. I am a female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 05-Jan-2018.
Original Location: 10454
Strawberry is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Strawberry, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.

Scanned neg on intake – MC placed during LVT exam History : Stray, no health hx available Subjective: Alert in carrier Observed Behavior – Walks out of carrier on own. Allows all handling but tail starts flicking when restrained Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes dilated, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Clean adult teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Large bladder. Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, presumed intact MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: Apparently healthy Prognosis: Excellent Plan: Spay, placement SURGERY: Okay for surgery 1088

S/O -BAR, a little quieter today but still interactive and friendly -good appetite -sneezing, mild serous nasal discharge -OU: open and clear -eupnic A 1. URI P -move to isolation -nebulize SID x 3 days -suspect viral so will not treat with antibiotics unless mucoid nasal discharge develops or course is prolonged/severe

Upon intake, Strawberry had dilated eyes and a crouched body but she allowed all handling. Strawberry was slow blinking and appreciated petting.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 01/06/18 Observed Behavior: friendly but easily aroused and will start flinching then hissing when touched, comes back for attention then shies away and growls
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Strawberry was meowing by the front and appeared calm, relaxed, and friendly.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Strawberry solicits attention and rubs against the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Strawberry greets the assessor by the opening.
Reaction to touch:: Strawberry head-butts right away and chirps during the interaction. She likes to look around the surroundings, but will nuzzle her head against the assessor’s body and continues to rub for more attention.
Reaction to being picked up:: Strawberry was tense during pick up and wiggles to be placed back down. She continues to solicit attention once back in her kennel.
