12/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Stormy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Stormy was alert and crouched over her litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Stormy’s eyes become dilated, her ears bent flat and she looks around the kennel for an exit. Reaction to cage door opening: Stormy is alert and remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Stormy rises up slowly with her eyes focused on the assessor and quickly rushes forward when the assessor extends his hand out. Her body is tense/ stiff, she seems uncomfortable and currently doesn’t allow any contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Stormy is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
