STERLING – A1073556
Safe - 5-18-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
**SAFE 05/18/16** It’s a shame his intake photo shows STERLING wadded up at the far corner of his crate, because this boy is probably an absolute stunner in his full view. He’s gorgeous, even in that defensive crouch, and at only around 12 months of age, he will probably continue to grow more and more handsome…..IF he lives beyond noon, tomorrow. That is the deadline set by the ACC, and Sterling must be spoken for by a NEW HOPE RESCUE group before twelve bells or it’s CURTAINS for this young lad! Sterling was understandably terrified by the ACC so he will need a foster/adopter who is willing to work with a rescue, if his life is to be spared tomorrow. Please advocate relentlessly for Sterling, tonight!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sterling was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He had a tense body and attempted to flee once outside of his carrier. He displayed fearful behavior during his initial medical exam and would become defensive with handling. Reaction to Assessor: Sterling was lying down, calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sterling looks at the assessor with his ears tilted sideways. Reaction to cage door opening: Sterling becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Sterling sniffs the assessor’s hand and becomes tense. He flinches when touched and retreats from contact, hissing. He squeezes into the corner of his cage and attempts to hide afterwards. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Sterling is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
