Pre-surgical exam and spay by Dr. 1088 S: Very tense, flinches every time she is touched. Scruffed for limited exam. O: BAR-H, BCS 5/9 EENT: No discharge OU, nose. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Tense. M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Female Neuro: Alert and appropriate, no sign neurological deficiencies Premedication with: 0.05ML Dexdomitor (0.5mg/ml) IM, 0.25ML ketamine (100mg/ml) IM, Pain Mangement: 0.08cc Buprenorphine (0.3mg/ml), 0.24 Onsior (20mg/ml) IM Routine feline spay, ventral midline approach. Pedicle ties, uterine body ligated with 3-0 Monocryl. Two layer closure. Green linear tattoo placed on ventral abdomen. Recovery uneventful. 1088

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – not socialized – attempt to flee ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/15/17 Hunched in litter box, tense posture. Eyes became dilated when door opened. Started retreating when attempted pets, eyes dilated further. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Stars remains cautious and tense crouched position at the back of the cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Stars stiffens up in place, alert with eyes wandering. Reaction to touch: During the touch, she began to flinch and lean away from the assessor’s hand while tightly curling up in place. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Stars may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
