06/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Squirtle was feeling a bit anxious, but this pretty girl will quickly warm up when gently spoken to. She will gently head butt you as she leans into your hand, almost the same way a child will lean into you when they don’t want to let go of you! This little sweetie would do well in the home of average cat parents (those with some experience with cats) who would give her equal amounts of feeling both secure and independent.
06/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Squirtle came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Squirtle allowed all handling. Reaction to assessor: Squirtle is sitting mid-cage, alert, wide eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Squirtle is tense, nervous. Reaction to cage door opening: Squirtle remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Squirtle warms up immediately to petting, head-butts, leans into hands. Reaction to pick up: Squirtle immediately jumps down from assessor’s arms. Placement Determination: Average Squirtle does not approach the assessor and appears nervous at first, but appreciates petting and allows all handling. Squirtle is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents, but may need additional adjustment time to a new home.
