SPONGEBOB – 28122
Safe - 6-4-2018 Manhattan
SAFE 6/4/18 WATCH HIS VIDEO! Kitty Boy SpongeBob needs a new pair of square pants @MACC. A volunteer writes: Shy, curious Spongebob was found by NYPD officers. Sensing that this gray and white little man needed some TLC, they brought him to the Care Center. Since arriving, Spongebob has been a gentleman, interacting with staff and volunteers and licking his food dishes clean. When I met him the other day, he was calm and engaged but still hesitant. I could tell he was interested in me but not quite up for a petting session, so I let him do his own thing, which basically meant chilling and checking me out. While sitting beside him, I told him that I had a strong feeling his forever family would find him here–a diamond in the rough with saucer-like eyes and an adorable gumdrop nose. If you’re looking for a furry buddy who is comfortable with people but still a bit independent, look past Spongebob’s rough-around-the-edges appearance and meet this sweet prince today!
SPONGEBOB was stuck on a windowsill for 2 days. He was brought in by police. Spongebob is a bit dehydrated, underweight and very hungry. He is docile and allows gentle handling. Please give this boy a good home asap.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:
5/16/18
Crouched behind litter box, eyes dilated, seemed unsure. Sat in place when door opened, sniffed hand, started eating treats. Very food motivated! Ignored me entirely while eating, allowed touch. Briefly leaned into pets, then walked around looking for more treats. Able to slowly lure out to main compartment, body held low. Sniffed hand between bars after door closed, stayed in main compartment, looking around.
5/17/18
Curled up behind litter box, tense, eyes dilated. Came partway out to main compartment to eat offered treats, but hissed and retreated on approach. Crouched behind litter box again, ears sideways. Hissed when door opened, stayed hunched in place, very tense. Ate more offered treats, softened slightly, ears came up. Sniffed hand, allowed, slightly leaned into pets.
5/20/18
Small improvement. Curled up at back of cubby, eyes dilated, seemed a little unsure. Started slow blinking when spoken to. Lay in place when door opened, sniffed hand, started eating offered treats. Allowed touch while eating, slightly leaned into pets when done, still unsure. Able to coax out to shelf with more treats after door closed, returned to cubby when done. Noted to startle easily from loud sounds.
5/21/18
Curled up at back of cubby, became alert on approach. Eyes became dilated, put ears sideways, whined quietly. Sat up when door opened, started eating offered treats. Allowed, then leaned into pets with more enthusiasm than seen previously, purred quietly, closed eyes. Sniffed, then slowly ate additional treats from my hand. Able to briefly lure out to shelf with more treats, returned to cubby when done eating.
5/22/18
Curled up asleep at back of cubby, woke when spoken to. Held immobile, whined quietly. Sat up when door opened, started eating offered treats. Allowed touch while eating, leaned into pets when done. Came briefly out to main compartment for more treats, then went right back into cubby. Lots of sneezing today.
