Enrichment:
10/01/17:
Hunched over on top of kuranda bed, ears flattened as she growls and stress meows. Stops yowling long enough to sniff the bear-claw, then tolerates petting along head and body while turning head to watch and yelling. Eyes are wide, whites of eyes are showing. Uncomfortable – needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.
10/02/17:
Crouched in front of kennel, ears flat. Hissing and stress meowing/growling. She stops hissing to sniff the treats I hold up to the cage, so I click and reward each time she remains calm in the front of the kennel or sniffs my hand. Likes treats. Stops growling and swatting and begins to focus on the clicks. Still not ready for touch – needs some more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.
Profile:
09/30/17:
Spike is and 8 year old spayed brown tabby cat who was surrendered to the ACC due to the fact he moved out of state and cannot have pets in the home. The owner stated that he got Spike as a gift when she was 8 weeks old. The owner states that Spike has no known medical issues.
Owner stated that when around strangers Spike is fearful and will hide. Spike has spent time around children and she is usually tolerant. When the children in the home try to play with her she will hiss. When laying with adults she is gentle. Spike has not spent time in the home around other cats or dogs so it is unknown how she will react.
Owner stated that Spike does hide in fear. On the way to the ACC in the car Spike was quiet. When being bathed or having her nails trimmed Spike will struggle to get away. She isn’t bothered if she is brushed held or disturbed while she sleeps. When being put in the carrier Spike will struggle to get away.
Owner described Spike as friendly affectionate and fearful with a medium activity level. When at home she likes to be in the same room as her owner. She likes to play with balls and wand toys. Spike has been kept indoors only and eats dry food. She likes to sleep on her owner’s bed. Spike is very much litter box trained and never has accident. Spike is used to a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Spike scratched on a scratching post made out of rope and carpet.
