Sparky has not had any injuries or health problems and was last seen by a vet when he was a kitten. Socialization: Sparky will hide around strangers. Sometimes he will come out to play, but after some time. He has spent time with a child in the house, his owner’s son. The son is 11. Sparky is relaxed and affectionate with him. Sparky plays exuberantly and a little too rough sometimes with adults and children. He has not spent time around other cats or pets. He does not have a bite history. Behavior: Sparky will meow a lot when he wants food and will scratch on the furniture at home. He has never been on car rides. He does not have any issues when using the litterbox. He struggles when getting a bath or a nail trim. He struggles and hisses when being put in the carrier. He isnt bothered when being brushed, but doesnt like his belly to be brushed. He isnt bothered when being held, and will try to jump out of your arms when he is done. He isnt bothered if disturbed while resting. For New Family: Sparky is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, independent and sometimes shy. His activity level is medium. His owner likes how Sparky used to give her high 5’s and also will lay on his back exposing his belly, and how Sparky will greet her when she comes home from work by rubbing his body all over her. He likes to play with his owner and sit on windowsills. He will get up on his hind legs and play with toys his owner gets for him. He likes to play with balls and chasing toys. When at home, Sparky will follow his owner around the house. He sleeps in his owner’s bed, or where ever the A/C unit is on. He like dry food and gets fed 2xday. He likes Temptation treats. He is an indoors only cat and uses a hooded litterbox with any kind of litter. When changing the type of litter, it has to be a gradual change, otherwise Sparky will make anger poops in his owner’s bed. Right now he likes Fresh Step clumping. He scratched on the furniture, or his cardboard horizontal scratching post. During intake Sparky was very nervous with dilated pupils and was salivating. He was also hissing and growling and the counselor did not handle him or collar him. He was lip licking and swatting at the carrier door. He made fear poops in his carrier on the way to the shelter.
