Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor: Sofia was curled up tight in her litter box with her body lowered.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Sofa turns towards the assessor and glances over with soft eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening: Sofia lip licks and her eyes dart around.
Reaction to touch: Sofia tightens her body and sinks low into her litter box when the assessor extends his hand out. She seems hesitant at first but starts to slowly warm up with petting and attention. She sniffs the assessor’s hand then leans in allowing petting and rubs.
Reaction to being picked up: Sofia was a bit tense when picked up then got antsy and leaped back into the kennel.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Sofia may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Basic Information:
Sofia is a domestic medium hair cat who was found as a stray and brought to ACC after her finder was no longer able to care for her.
Socialization:
Around strangers Sofia is shy for days and plays gently with adults that she is familiar with. Sofia spent time with a newborn that she was not interested in and did not interact with. Sofia has never been around other cats or dogs while with her finder.
Behavior:
Sofia has never bitten another person or animal and has shown no behavior issues while in her finders home. Sofia is relaxed when riding in a car. Sofia’s [previous caretaker did not attempt to give her a bath or trim her nails so it is unknown how she will react to these events. Sofia enjoys being brushed and isn’t bothered by being picked up/held or being disturbed while resting/sleeping. Sofia will struggle when being picked up.
For a new family to Know:
Sofia is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, shy and quiet with a medium activity level, When at home Sofia will follow around her caretaker and likes to play with string. Sofia was kept indoors and was fed dry food. Sofia is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with crystal litter. Sofia was not interested on scratching on anything in her finder’s home.
Intake Behavior:
Sofia was fearful during her intake and tried to get away from staff and hide. Sofia allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.
