SMOKEY – A1066219
Gone - 3-3-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 03/03/16 *** NEW HOPE! Terrified SMOKEY was minding his own business in Queens one day, just a fellow hanging out in the yard. Suddenly BOOM! he was shoved into a crate and held prisoner for 5 days, before being brought to the ACC. Is there anyone who can honestly claim to be shocked that his fears are running away with his calmer, better judgement at the ACC? This guy may not be the most cuddly kitty ever while he’s at the ACC, but he is hardly a t-rex! SMOKEY needs a foster/adopter with patience and some spare room, to work with a NEW HOPE rescue tonight! Only then, will this boy be saved. Without that magic combination, SMOKEY will be killed with NO sympathy tomorrow, by people for whom that’s all in a days’ work. Please advocate strongly for SMOKEY tonight!

03/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Smokey looks tense, crouched position at the back when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Smokey slowly retreats further to the back of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Smokey accepts a stroke, but began to growl in place with ears down to the side, and attempting to escape his cage. Placement determination: NH ONLY Smokey is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
