11/11/16 18:09 Socialization Smith is friendly with strangers when they come to his house. He will approach the stranger. He has been in a home with an 11 year od and is good with kids. He has not been around other dogs or cats. He has never bitten anybody. Behavior Smith enjoys scratching on leather and carpet material. He has never been bathed or brushed. He does not mind having his nails trimmed, being held or put into a carrier. New Family Smith has a medium level of activity and follows his owner around the house. He likes to play with balls and mice. He is kept indoors only. He uses the litter box very well. He has an uncovered litter box. He uses fresh step scented crystal litter. H also likes to scratch on furniture with leather. He has never had a scratch post. Intake Smith is nervous but still allows handling and will let you jandle and pet him but is visibly cautious since leaving his home for the first time.

As per previous owner, Smith is friendly with strangers when they come to his house. He will approach the stranger. He has been in a home with an 11 year old, and is good with kids. He has not been around other dogs or cats. He has never bitten anybody. Reaction to assessor: Smith hisses and growls at the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Smith continues to hiss and growl at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Smith becomes stiff and alert, and lifts his paw as if to swat. Reaction to touch: Smith hisses, growls, and swats at the assessor. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Smith is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time
