12/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Silver was lying down on his blanket with body pressed up against the wall. Reaction when softly spoken to: Silver becomes alert, his ears rotate and his eyes stay focused on the assessor’s movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Silver grumbles then slowly moves back. Reaction to touch: Silver inches away and presses his body up against the back wall with his ears bent flat. He starts breathing heavy, lip licks and tolerates brief contact before whipping around and hissing. He arches his back, raises his paw and low growls as a warning. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Silver is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and tolerates very brief petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
