04/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Shimmer and at the time she at the back of the cage. Shimmer lip licks and has wide eyes but allows petting. She was nevous but leans in for rubs. Reaction to assessor: Shimmer does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Shimmer does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Shimmer remains motionless and low growls Reaction to touch: Shimmer allows limited petting before striking Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick up Shimmer Behavior Determination: NewHope Shimmer was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Shimmer may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate much petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
