Shimmer was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.

Uncomfortable and hissing. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures

Shimmer was lying down and meowing loudly at the front of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Shimmer rises up and rubs her cheeks against the kennel door.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Shimmer remains calm.
Reaction to touch:
Shimmer squints then slowly leans away when the assessor extends his hand out. She sniffs, then gently nudges his hand and leans in for attention. Her tail rises, and she continues to vocalize when pet along her body. She appreciates attention, but seems to get overwhelmed with extensive handling and whips around and nips when she feels uncomfortable
Reaction to being picked up:
Shimmer was a bit tense when picked up, but she remains calm and allows all handling.

Hx of vomiting garbage and inappetance
S/O: BAR. ~5% dehydration. Attention seeking, rubbing on cage door while in cage but will swat firmly if tries to handle. Reportedly eating tuna fish with good appetite – tuna was mixed with wet food to try to coax into eating cat food but turned food over and actively picked out tuna
EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge
MS: Ambulatory x 4. BCS 4/9
Remainder of exam done under sedation – sedated with telazol 0.07ml IM by LVT for diagnostics
HL: Normal thoracic auscultation
ABD: Soft, no palpable masses
INTEG: Dry, brittle, thin coat especially along caudal half
UG: Female
Blood work pending
Radiographs: lateral and VD abdominal — Slightly decreased serosal detail. Gas distension in colon with small amountof normal feces, small intestines normal in appearance, stomach full – mostly appears to be food but also small amount of material slightly more radiopaque (small bones vs garbage vs other?), spleen and liver WNL, small bladder, unable to visualize kidneys. No signs of FB or obstruction
A: R/O dietary indiscretion causing GI signs; appears to be accustomed to non-tradition diets (eats tuna with good appetite)
P: LRS 100ml SQ given under sedation. Rec metronidazole 0.35ml PO q12 x 5 days. Good prognosis

2 view AXR-large bladder, no obstructive pattern noted, no foreign body or abnormalities with GI, nsf
1/16-gave mirtazapine and started on cerenia and LRS
Subjective: BAR, ~ 5% dehydrated. Has still not been eating consistently. No csvd. Normal bm and u in litter box.
Objective
EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
H/L: Eupneic, normal RR/RE
ABD: Mildly tense, NMP
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities

Decreased appetite
Dehydrated
Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC
Give one dose mirtazapine 3.75mg PO
Extend cerenia 1mg/kg SQ SID until 1/20
Extend LRS 100ml SQ SID until 1/20
Repeat AXR and CBC/Chem/T4 tomorrow
