09/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shelly was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Shelly was pressed up against the back wall of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Shelly lip licks, flattens her ears and turns her head away. Reaction to cage door opening: Shelly flinches and becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Shelly’s eyes widen and he leans away when the assessor extends his hands out. He tolerates petting, has a tense/stiff body and continues to lip lick. After a couple of soft passes he tilts his head allowing rubs and seems to be more relaxed. Reaction to being picked up: Shelly was very tense when held, struggled and leaped back into the kennel. Behavior Determination: Experience Shelly may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
