***SAFE 08/27/17*** SUPER SENIOR SHELDON IS AVERAGE RATED AND WANTS TO BE YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND! Sweet 15 yr old senior boy SHELDON made himself noticeable sitting in front of a hospital. He has a missing eye and ringworm however, eating well! He will need TLC and follow up vet care. GIVE SHELDON A HAPPY ENDING TO HIS STORY – RESERVE HIM BY NOON!!

I am a male black and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 15 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 08/22/2017 from NY 10314, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

08/24/2017 Exam Type DVM INTAKE – Medical Rating is 5 C – SEVERE CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 6.1 LBS.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 15 years History : stray Subjective: Observed Behavior – friendly Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective BCS 3/9 EENT: OS- no globe seen, OD- clear, AU- large amount of dry brown debris, no nasal discharge seen today but mild nasal congestion Oral Exam: severe dental calc and gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI, 2 descended testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, no masses noted, pathcy alopecia, erythema and crusting on face and throughout body, possible lice nits seen attached to fur, severely decreased skin turgor and dorsal muscle wasting CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment nasal congestion and discharge- R/O URI vs other severe dental disease dermatitis- R/O dermatophytosis (Wood’s lamp positive on 8/22/17) vs other possible lice underweight- R/O GI disease vs renal disease vs liver disease vs endocrine disease vs other anophthalmia OS Plan Prognosis: guarded to poor continue doxycycline, erythromycin, itrafungaol give 75 mls SQ LRS SID x 3 days scheduled bloodwork for 8/25/17

KNOWN HISTORY: Sheldon was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was lethargic during intake, but allowed the counselors to handle him. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Friendly, allowed handling EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Sheldon was sitting by the front and appeared to have a soft body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sheldon remains in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Sheldon retreats a little, but remains soft. Reaction to touch: Sheldon shifts away slightly, but allows petting. Reaction to pick up: Sheldon is tolerant of this type of handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cannot evaluate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Calm BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Sheldon interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
