Shadow is a 1 year old black female DSh with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Shadow for 1 year and is surrendering because of a residential move,
Socialization
Shadow has lived with children ages 11 and 8 and was relaxed and respectful towards them. Shadow mostly ignores people but if you come up to her she will want attention and you to pet her. Shadow plays gently with children and adults when she plays. Shadow has lived with another cat and was affectionate and playful with the other cat. Shadow played gently with the cat and they liked to chase each other around. Around strangers Shadow is relaxed and goes about her day. Shadow does not have a bite or scratch history.
Behavior
In car rides Shadow will meow and pant.
Shadow is use to getting bathes but is a little afraid of them. Shadow isn’t bothered when having her nails trimmed and enjoys being brushed. Shadow isn’t bothered when being picked up and held or being placed in a carrier.
For the new family to know
Shadow was described as friendly affectionate, independent and quiet with a medium activity level. When home with you Shadow will either be following you around sitting with you or in her favorite spot on the window sill. Shadow enjoys playing with balls. Shadow is litter box trained and uses a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Shadow eats both wet and dry Friskies 3 times a day. Shadow has a scratching post made of fabric but still likes to scratch on the furniture. When its time for bed Shadow likes to sleep in the bed with the owner.
Behaviors during intake
During intake Shadow was social.Shadow came right out of the carrier and enjoyed being pet. Shadow would chirp and purr . Shadow allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose wiggly body. Shadow was very sweet and allowed all handling.

PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, Distended, soft
U/G: intact female, lactating
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: Lactating female – r/o dystocia
Plan: Set up in medical with kitten, recommend radiographs to check for retained fetuses
Prognosis: Fair to good
