**SAFE 02/10/16**FRONT DECLAWED – SHADOW started out being “bought” like a ragdoll, by the previous owner. Then DECLAWED, then DUMPED because they were too lazy to find new dwellings that were cat friendly! The 8 year old spent 5 years of his life with his previous owners. Now, this already NEUTERED black beauty, is ready for a new home. Ready for a home that will keep him FOREVER, not just until its convenient to them! Please,offer to FOSTER or ADOPT this guy. 01/30/16 19:32 BASIC INFORMATION Shadow is a Neutered Black and White DSH whose front paws is declawed. He was purchased from a pet store by his owners who have had him for 5 years. He’s being surrender due to family having to move and not being able to care for him. There aren’t any known health injuries or problems. SOCIALZATION Around strangers he’s shy for a few minutes but is friendly when he warms up. He is gentle when he plays with adults. He lived with one child who would grab Shadow tail and hiss at him. He has experience around a Shih Tzu who at first he was aggressive towards and hissed at him but now he’s able to tolerant him being around. Around other cats he is somewhat rough and gentle. There is no known history of him biting another person or animal. BEHAVIOR When he was a young kitten her scratched the furniture, which resulted in the family getting him declawed. Riding in the car he cries. There is no litter box problem history. Bath time is a struggle, he hasn’t had his nails trimmed (declawed). Enjoys having his coat brushed and isn’t bothered when being picked up and held. Being put in the carrier it’s a struggle and he hisses. He isn’t bothered when his sleep is disturbed. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Shadow is described as being affectionate, friendly, shy and warm with an activity level of low, which will do best in an all adult home. Mostly kept indoors during the winter but the option of in and out during the summer. What’s liked most about him is that he’s mellow; his favorite activities are running around. When home he tends to be in his favorite spot, and likes to sleep anywhere that’s comfortable. He eats dry Friskies from a feeder daily, when he wants more food he paws at the bowl. Shadow is litter boxed trained in a hooded box with clay pellets. During intake Shadow was nervous due to new surroundings but counselor was able to collar, scan (negative) and photographed.

As per previous owner, Around strangers Shadow is shy for a few minutes but is friendly when he warms up. He is gentle when he plays with adults. Reaction to assessor: Shadow does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Shadow does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed Reaction to door cage opening: Shadow appeared nervous Reaction to touch: Shadow allows petting with a slow approach then he starts to purr and begins seeking attention. Try picking cat up: Shadow is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Average At the time of the assessment Shadow was displaying shy behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention and tolerates all petting. Shadow is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
