SELINA – A1077162
Gone - 6-22-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 06/22/16*** FOUR YEARS OLD AND MAY NOT LIVE ANOTHER DAY! SELINA is a gorgeous TORTIE who needs an EXPERIENCED hand and a gentle heart! She is scared, as she should be, she will allow petting while lying down, and shows she can warm up to the right person! She needs a FOSTER OR ADOPTER to help her out of this nightmare that she’s in! SELINA will be “dreaming of you” TONIGHT and praying that it will come true!

06/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Selina was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed all handling upon intake and during her initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator has reported that during their interaction, she did not show much interest in socializing; however, she would lie in place, accept petting, and lean slightly in for pets. Reaction to assessor: Selina was lying by the back, and displayed a neutral body posture. Reaction when softly spoken to: Selina looks at the assessor, averts her gaze, and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Selina remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Selina sniffs the assessor’s hand, inches forward, and leans in for petting. She closes her eyes momentarily, but becomes alert with noise and appears wary of the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Selina is a bit tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Selina tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
