Your newly adopted animal is in treatment for an upper respiratory illness. The veterinarian is temporarily waiving this animal from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY until such time as the illness has resolved and the pet has sufficiently recovered. At that time, this animal must come into compliance with the spay/neuter requirements.

Subjective: Cat is BARH
Observed Behavior – At front of feral den, seems curious, cat allows petting/handling at first, but quickly escalates to attempts to bite (hisses, growls and bites tongue depressor), placed cat muzzle but still unable to examine as cat started using all four legs to resist restraint. Sedated with 0.1mLs Telazol IM, which provided adequate sedation for remainder of exam and treatments.

EENT: Eyes – third eyelids protruding slightly OU, ears – mild amt ceruminous debris AU, sneezing with serous nasal discharge and audible congestion
Oral Exam: Healthy adult dentition; Grade 0-1/4 dental dz
PLN: submandibular LNs enlarged
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, small (<2-3cm) round masses caudal dorsal abdomen – ruleout fecal balls vs early fetuses
U/G: female; no obvious spay scar or tattoo
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: not performed
Assessment: URI, Possible early pregnancy, FeLV+
Prognosis:
Good
Plan: Unable to give Gabapentin on intake due to sedation. Move to ISO. Start Doxycycline 50mg/mL – give 0.75mLs PO q24h x 10d. Recheck day 7 and 10; re-palpate abdomen at that time.
