09/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Saphire was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was very nervous upon intake and did not allow any handling. She was also very nervous during her initial medical exam and hisses, attempting to flee. Reaction to assessor: Saphire was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Saphire looks at the assessor, and then looks around. Reaction to cage door opening: Saphire remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Saphire sniffs the assessor’s hand and slowly leans against it. She arches her back and slowly comes forward to receive more petting. Her tail was lowered initially and she appeared unsure, but her tail rises with more petting and she seems to appreciate attention. Reaction to pick up: Saphire is a bit tense, but remains calm when held. Placement Determination: Average Saphire interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She may need time to warm up to her new home, but she is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
