SAFE 3/11/18 **FIV POSITIVE** 2 year old SAM was brought in with an injury to his right eye – which seems to be missing. He will need immediate medical care and an enucleation of the eye. SAM also has a wound on his paw. He tested positive for FIV. Sam is a friendly and calm kitty and is hoping to find a rescue angel today. Fostering will get him the vet care he needs and the rescue will handle the bills. Please help Sam today!

EENT: Left eye clear/WNL, right eye missing, optic nerve and ocular muscles visible and moving, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Slab fracture of upper right canine, mild dental staining, pink moist mm
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Male
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, wound to right front carpus, wounds surrounding and involving orbit of right eye
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: FIV+, Wound to right paw, missing right eye with associated wounds, dehydration
Prognosis: Good with appropriate treatment
Plan: LRS 100ml SQ, Convenia 0.36ml SQ and simbadol 0.48ml Sq given. Area around eye flushed and surrounding area cleaned with nolvasan. Continue with simbadol 0.48ml SQ q24 x 3 days. Rec enucleation to remove remaining remnants of globe – neuter at time of surgery
SURGERY:
Permanent waiver due to injury to right eye – recommend neuter at time of enucleation
