Salem is a year and a half, black, DSH female. She was not spayed prior to coming into the shelter and has no known health issues or injuries. She has not seen a vet recently, and was surrendered due to there being too many pets in the home. She recently had a litter of kittens and was surrendered with two of them.

Basic Information:

Diva is shy and non-approachable when meeting new people. She will hide and not come out to seek attention.
How is this cat around children?
Salem hides when children approach her and does not like interacting with them.
How is this cat around other cats?
Salem is relaxed and playful with the other cats in the home.
How is this cat around dogs?
Salem has lived with large breed dogs in her previous home and kept her distance from them but co existed well with them.
Behavior Notes
Salem’s owner has never bathed or groomed her, and has not trimmed her nails. She does not allow her owner to pick her up or hold her, and she will struggle when she has to be put in a carrier.

Salem rarely seeks attention and does not follow her family around. She likes to play with balls and string toys, and has been an indoor cat. She eats both wet and dry food, and is litter box trained using a hooded box with clumping litter. She uses a scratching post made from carpet.
Behavior Notes:
Salem was hissing and hiding in the back of the crate during intake, she did not allow for any handling.

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam:Teeth clean – minimal exam
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: Apparently healthy, nursing underage kittens
Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC
Prognosis: Excellent
SURGERY:
Temporary waiver due to lactating/nursing underage kittens
