SAHARA – 35492
Safe - 8-18-2018 Brooklyn
SAFE 8/18/18 NEW PHOTOS! **Sahara has been here for 3 weeks and her behavior is declining. When she first came in she appeared to appreciate petting, but now appears more agitated and overstimulated. PLEASE HELP HER TODAY!** SAHARA is a spayed girl who was brought in to the shelter. She has a small mass on her vulva and needs a follow up vet check. A volunteer writes: Is it too quiet around the house? Wouldn’t you like to have a chatty little striped gal pal to follow you around and talk to you? This beautiful desert queen wants to be your BFF. She came right up to the front of the kennel with lots of meows when I approached. She enjoyed some head and side-of-face scratches and carried on a conversation with me. She is probably best in a home with experienced cat owners as she can get a little overstimulated, but is an absolute sweetheart if you know when to give her some space.
Sahara is a very sweet girl and would love to be your best friend.

Overstimulation
Potential challenges comments:
Sahara is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Sahara becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
Sahara solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to Sahara showing signs of over stimulation, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Any future home with children should conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
