History : Has a litter of four kittens ~ 2-3 weeks old. Arrived on transport to MACC on transport with a uterine prolapse

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: teeth in good cond
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Uterine prolapse with both uterine horns upto the bifurication. The uterus was friabl, and inflamed (2.5 cm diamter). The uterus was covered in debris including hair and litter.
The distal right uterine horn has show signs of trauma including 2-3 small perforations, highly friable, and had focal areas of hemorrhage distally.
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: externally normal
Assessment:
– Severe Uterine Prolapse
– Queen of litter of four (two – three weeks old)
Prognosis: Fair to good
Plan:
1) The patient was sedated with Dexmeditiomine, Ketamine and Butorphanol.
2) IVC was placed and fluids run at 15 ml/hr for 24 hrs
3) The patient was placed in lateral recumbency and the prolpased uterus was cleaned with sterile hypertonic fluids (NACL) and dilute iodine. The uterus was then soaked in NACL sugar solution. The uterus was manually reduced.
4) Blood was withdrawn for CBC Chem
5) 0.25 ml Oxytocin IM, Simbadol 0.3 ml SQ, Onsior 0.3 ml SQ was given post op
Medications
Unasysn 2ml IV TID for 3 days
Simabdol 0.3 ml SQ SID for 3 days
Onsior injectable 0.3 ml SQ SID for 3 day
SURGERY:
Okay for emergency OVH surgery

Sogwa was cautious at first, but slowly came out here carrier and head butt a counselor. Sogwa allowed all handling.
