*** SAFE 01/29/16 ***FOUR HOUSEMATES IN NEED OF NEW LIVING ARRANGEMENTS……JAKE, DANNILYN ROXY & NENE were surrendered because their owner decided there were TOO MANY PETS…..All of them have lovely volunteer notes and would grace any home…..JAKE is a NEUTERED 5 year old BEGINNER ….A staff member writes: I think Jake is really a jack-of-all-trades. This handsome guy has done it all. He’s lived with kids, dogs and lots of other cats. He’s also the friendliest cat you’ll ever meet! When you greet him at his kennel he runs right up to say hi and asks for lots of pets. His previous owners describe him as affectionate and confident, and I think they really hit the nail on the head! Jake would be a wonderful cat for almost any home, and would be a good choice for first time cat owners. Come on down to meet this wonderful guy today!….ROXY is SPAYED and 6 years old….A staff member writes: Roxy is a wonderful orange and white girl who is waiting for the right person to come along. She came from a home where she was living with several other cats, three dogs and a few children. Roxy loved to play with the other cats in the home and loved to seek attention from the adults, but tended to hide from the children. Here at the shelter she has been very nervous, and we would love to see her go to a home that’s relaxed and quiet where she can have a chance to adjust and come out of her shell. Can you give this lovely lady the home she needs? Some meet her at our Manhatan Care Center today…….DANNILYN IS A SPAYED, BEGINNER 8 YEAR OLD…A volunteer writes: This is a Tuxedo Penguin with a perfectly symmetrical white spot on her nose and under her chin, and an all white chest. When I opened her door, she was too busy cleaning herself to pay me any mind. I am sure she was sprucing herself up for my visit, because she greeted me with a coat of fur that was soft and silky. Personality and looks she’s got, but the tale of the tape is another story. Weighing in at a chunky 15.5 pounds, her new family will want to introduce her to the joys of dieting (don’t we all know them!). Despite her size, she nimbly jumped from a shelf into my lap, and was ready to go exploring. Let her be your guide to the next love of your life. Another volunteer writes: Dannilynn is your well rounded family cat. She has lived with children, dogs, and other cats. She likes to give kisses while you are petting her. That makes you want to pet her even longer. Danni Lyn has the whole package: lovable, affectionate and ready for it all. She has wonderful manners. Come down and see a cat that has it all……NENE is a NEUTERED, 8 year old who is a little more on the shy side…A staff member writes: Nene is a fabulous eight year old girl that is looking to settle down into a quiet home where she can curl up and snuggle with someone through the cold winter weather. Nene came from a home with several other cats, three small dogs and a few children. With the adults she was very friendly and love attention, but she could be a bit overwhelmed by the children. We think Nene would thrive in a home where she can live with someone who understands cats and loves to hang out for a quiet night in. Could you be just the right fit for this lovely girl? Come down to our Manhattan Care Center to meet her today….WHAT MORE CAN WE SAY?? FOUR ADORABLE CATS WHO NEED HOMES!! APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT ONE OR MORE NOW!! 01/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Roxy’s former owner described her as loving, assertive and affectionate. She has lived with adults and children aged 3 and 6 years old. She tolerates the children but will run off if she doesn’t want to be bothered. She has lived with at least 9 other cats in the home. She is playful with the other cats in the home. The cats will groom each other and run around together. She also lived with three dogs, a Yorkshire terrier, Maltese and Chihuahua. Rustyee tolerates the dogs. Reaction to assessor: Roxy looks tense at the back of cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Roxy hissed just once, remains crouched position, body held tightly, and alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Roxy flinches during the touch, then stiffens up in place and began to lip lick. Placement determination: Experience / no child Roxy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
