Medical Summary 9/21/16 Check injured kitten Microchip scan Neg. O: QARH. mm=lt pink, moist. CRT<2 s. EENT: No oculonasal discharge. ORAL: Multiple deciduous teeth present. Has adult incisors, and adult canine teeth just starting to erupt. H/L: No murmurs, lungs clear. ABD: Palpation NSF. UG: Intact male. MS/Integ: Ambulatory x 4, mild lameness right hind. No palpable fractures. No puncture wounds visible. Right hind from medial to lateral thigh – extensive degloving inury with muscle fascia and SQ fat exposed, large amount of dirt and debris stuck to exposed tissue. Right fore – similar wound extending caudomedial upper antebrachium and elbow. A: Large degloving injuries and ‘road rash’ consistent with being hit by car. No evidence of bite injury. Age est. 5 mos. P: Buprenorphine 0.5 mg/ml 0.2 ml SQ. Flushed wounds with sterile LRS to remove as much debris as possible. Start Clavamox 62.5 mg 0.5 tab PO BID. Continue buprenorphine 0.2 ml SQ BID x 5 days. Rec. placement ASAP for further treatment – will need surgical debridement of wounds, possible skin grafts. Prognosis good with appropriate treatment.
