RHONDA – A1074879
Safe - 5-28-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 05/28/16 *** FAMILY TORN APART! Meet RHONDA and RANDY, two adult cats who entered the ACC as strays along with a 3-month-old kitten named Rami, who is not listed tonight. RHONDA has full mammary glands, going by her shelter notes, and both she and RANDY are understandably freaked out by everything at the ACC. The sights, the smells, the sounds, the pervasive feel of DEATH, that ridiculous plastic hand—all of it! That has played out as NEW HOPE ratings for both cats, which means that only a rescue can pull RHONDA and RANDY to safety, tonight!

05/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Rhonda and at the time she allowed no contact. Rhonda hisses and swats when close. She doesn’t come out cat den. Reaction to assessor: Rhonda was hiding in the cat den when I approach the cage When spoken quietly: Rhonda continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Rhonda becomes alert Reaction to touch: Rhonda hisses, strikes, does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Rhonda was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She may require further investigation before placement in a home. Rhonda is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
