09/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ren was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Ren was curled up in the back of the kennel with his ears bent flat. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ren starts to breathe heavily and has wide eyes fixated on the assessor’s movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Ren remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Ren arches his back and backs away from the assessor while hissing. He swats when the assessor extends his hand out and curls his body up trying to avoid attention. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Ren is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
