Hello, my name is Ray. My animal id is #19047. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 24-Jan-2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- homeless.
Ray is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection. Ray will likely require in home care. Ray is suitable for most cat families behaviorally.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Reported 7 years old – exam is consistent with this Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned negative on LVT intake; MC was placed at that time History : Surrendered, no health problems reported Subjective: Alert, calm Observed Behavior – Relaxed, allows all handling Objective BAR-H, MMs pink, BCS 7/9 EENT: Mild serous ocular discharge. No nasal discharge. Clean ears. Oral Exam: Moderate tartar and gingivitis. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA Intermittent sneezing. Lungs clear, eupnic. ABD: Soft, non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Male neutered MSI: Seborrhea sicca. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally. Assessment: 1. Overweight 2. Dental disease 3. Seborrhea 4. URI – likely viral Prognosis: Fair-good Plan: 1. Move to isolation; no antibiotics indicated at this time but monitor for progression of signs and consider further treatment as needed 2. Recommend weight loss of 3-7 lbs 3. Recommend dental cleaning and daily tooth brushing 4. If seborrhea does not resolve with weight loss, recommend further investigation into this problem 1088

Upon intake, Ray came out of his carrier on his own. Ray allowed me to collar him and pet him and allowed me to pick him up and place him inside his kennel.

Basic Information:: Ray is a 7 year old male black and white domestic short haired cats. Ray previously lived with owner for about 7 years and was surrendered because his owner could no longer take care of him. Ray has no injuries or health issues and has not been seen by a vet recently.
Previously lived with:: Ray previously lived with one adult, one child, and one cat.
How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers, Ray is shy and will hide. Ray will come out after a few minutes and approach strangers and will allow to be petted.
How is this cat around children?: Ray previously lived with a 2 year old child. Ray is described as being relaxed, affectionate and tolerant of the 2 year old.
How is this cat around other cats?: Ray previously lived with a male 7 year old cat.Ray is described as being playful and will often groom the other cat.
How is this cat around dogs?: Ray has never interacted with dogs.
Behavior Notes: During car rides, Ray is relaxed or sleeping. Ray is not bothered when being bathed and has never had his nails trimmed. Ray enjoys having his coat brushed and is not bothered when being picked up and hold or when being put into a carrier. Ray has never been disturbed as he sleeps or rests.

For a New Family to Know: Ray is a affectionate, confident and quiet cat. When at home, Ray will follow you around and likes to be in the same room as you. Ray was kept as an indoors only cat and he was feed Science Diet dry food twice a day. Ray is litter box trained and used a hooded box with Feline Pine cat litter. Ray did not have a scratching post and would instead scratch on the dresser.
