Lying in back of kennel with a relaxed body, ears forward. He allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and standing up. Comes forward to allow more petting, tail raised. Doing well!
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: No change
Reaction to assessor: Ravioli purrs then comes forward and rubs up against the kennel door.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Ravioli reaches out with soft paws and continues to solicit attention.
Reaction to cage door opening: Ravioli is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Ravioli perks up, gives head butts and allows petting all over his body. He can get a little excited while interacting and will nip with moderate pressure, but he never displays any further reaction. This behavior seems to be motivated by play and he’s able to quickly calm down and go back to soliciting attention.
Reaction to being picked up: Ravioli is calm, relaxed and allows all handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Energetic
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Affectionate, Sweet, Playful
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Rough play – Ravioli solicits attention and tolerates petting, but may play roughly. He is a young and high-energy cat that tends to put his teeth on skin. Although this appears to be motivated by play, it is important to note that this behavior occurs and that he may also be easily overstimulated. We recommend daily rigorous play with fishing pole-type toys and ending play sessions before Ravioli becomes overstimulated or if he begins to target human hands or feet. We also recommend using puzzle feeders to keep Ravioli engaged and to exercise his brain in addition to his body.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Ravioli interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Due to Ravioli playing rough and becoming overstimulated, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Any future home with children should conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
