RAVENNA – A1092332

***GONE 10/08/16*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY RAVENNA WAS BETRAYED BY HER FEEDER WHO “FELT BAD” SHE WAS OUTDOORS – SO IS BEING ON DEATH ROW BETTER?? RAVENNA is a lady with a mind of her own. She is friendly but fiesty and certainly knows her mind. Sadly the people who have been feeding her for months suddenly decided that it would be better for her not to be outside but in the shelter. Well this “shelter” has done nothing for this beautiful cat – they just let her wait her stray hold out and put her on tonight’s list. RAVENNA allowed all handling and was soliciting petting on her assessment. But then it happened – she hissed! Well that was all it took for the ACC to slap her right on tonight’s list where she has only until 12 NOON Saturday to be saved. That’s right, the ACC could care less that they are killing a perfectly healthy adoptable cat. We guess they forgot about Jackson Galaxy’s behavior program for these kind of kitties – long after they got the publicity for having him there. WHO WILL SAVE GORGEOUS RAVENNA TONIGHT? SHE WILL BE JUST FINE ONCE OUT OF THE SHELTER – WITH A LITTLE PATIENCE AND LOVE YOU MAY FIND YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND!!

10/04/16 16:04 Ravenna A1092332 is a young female Tortie DSH feline who’s been seen in the finder’s neighborhood for a while, they’ve been feeding her but felt bad for her being outdoors. They aren’t able to keep her and stated she’s friendly but can be a little “fiesty” at times. They placed food into a carrier, she walked into it and they brought her into our BXAC. During intake Ravenna allowed to be pet briefly then retreated, hissed and swatted at me; the scratch did not break skin. She walked into the kennel on her own after a couple of minutes of the carrier being in the kennel. Due to her behavior and two dogs being in the lobby I was unable to collar, scan or take Ravenna’s picture on the back drop.

10/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ravenna looks neutral, lying down on her cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Ravenna stands up and engages the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: During the touch Ravenna leans into the assessor’s hand but began to get agitated with the petting then growls and hisses randomly while she continues to solicit. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Ravenna solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to growl and hiss at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Ravenna becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
