09/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ramsi was brought in after being trapped along with several other cats in a community. We cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home or to his previous situation. He did not tolerate handling at intake, nor during his initial medical examination, growling, striking, and attempting to flee. He was hiding in his cat den when approached by the assessor, and did not allow any approach or interaction. Reaction to assessor: Ramsi is in his cat den. He looks through the holes at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in place. Reaction to touch: Due to his behavior, the assessor first introduces a small object to the den opening. Ramsi hisses when the object approaches, then swats. The evaluation is ended at this point. Placement determination: New Hope Only Ramsi is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has offered distance-increasing behaviors during every interaction, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
