12/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rain was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He attempted to flee upon intake and during his initial medical exam, but allowed the medical team to handle him with a slow approach. Reaction to assessor: Rain was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Rain looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes and blinks slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Rain becomes slightly alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Rain was hesitant of touch, but with a slow approach he sniffs the assessor’s hand. He accepts gentle petting on his head and body, but blinks and lip licks during the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experience Rain tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
