Subjective / Observed Behavior – Walked out of feral den, eyes dilated. Began hissing, swatting and lunging.
Resting under kuranda bed, soft posture, eyes a little dilated, looking around. Became alert when door opened, eyes dilated fully. Stood, started eating offered treats. Sniffed assess-a-hand, then tolerated pets while eating, occasionally leaning away from head pets. Hissed quietly when pet on rear.
Resting under kuranda bed, alert, eyes dilated. Stood when door opened, started eating offered teats. Leaned slightly away or tolerated pets, seemed unsure. Came forward for more treats after door closed, but would not come all the way up to front.
Curled up resting under kuranda bed, looking around with dilated eyes, avoiding eye contact. Stayed in place when door opened, tolerate some pets, then moved to hunch in litter box, very anxious.
Lying down with legs tucked in on her kuranda bed, curious, eyes wandering, lip licking in place
Curled up dozing on kuranda bed, woke when door opened. Lay in place, eyes dilated, soft posture, started eating treats. Allowed all pets today, no hissing or retreating.
Leaned forward from kuranda bed, looking out with dilated eyes and meows softly. Sniffs hand and was hesitant of touch, but accepts petting. Rewarded with treats each time she allowed stroke, lifting rear when pet along body.

Potential challenges comments:
R2d2 has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling. Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
Experienced, adult only
TM – Treatable-Manageable
R2d2 tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children.
Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
