Basic info:
Putty is a 9 year old spayed black cat that is declawed in the front paws. She was surrendered by her owner due to the fact they are moving and are unable to take Putty with them. The owner got Putty as a gift when she was 3 months old. Putty has no known medical problems.
Socialization:
Owner stated that when around strangers Putty is shy for a few minutes the will warm up. Putty has spent time around children and is respectful. The owner stated that when playing with children and adults Putty is gentle. Putty has not spent time around other cats or dogs so it is unknown how she will react.
Behavior:
On the way to the ACC in the car Putty was meowing at first but then became quiet. Putty is afraid to be bathed and her owner has never trimmed her back claws. Putty likes to be brushed. When being held or put in the carrier Putty will struggle to get away. Putty isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while she sleeps.
For a new family to know:
Owner described Putty as friendly and mellow with a medium activity level. When at home she likes to follow her owner around. She likes to play with paper balls, string and stuffed toys. She has been kept indoors only and likes to sleep on her owners couch. Putty is very much litterbox trained and never has litter box accidents. Putty is used to a hooded litter box with clumping or crystal litter. Putty is declawed in the front so she does not scratch items in the home.

06/05/17
Lying in back of kennel with a low body and wide eyes. Tolerates petting along head and body while tilting ears and turning head to watch my hand. Licking lips. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.
06/06/17
Sitting crouched in back of kennel with wide eyes. She warms up immediately when pet, leaning in with her head and standing up with tail quivering. Allows petting along head and body. Really warmed up since yesterday. Doing well!
06/07/17
Curled up tight in the back of the kennel. Lip licks when we make eye contact. She eventually comes forward when coaxed, her tail starts to quiver. Curious, looks around the kennel, sniffs through the door then rubs her body against the cage furnishings. Remained calm when the door opened, leans in and accepts petting. She gives soft head butts when rubbed and allows petting. She seems to prefer being pet on her head; she turns around and guides my hand away when touched along her back. Calm and relaxed body when held. Sweet girl, doing well!
