Other notes: She was never given a bath or nail trim. She enjoys being picked up and held. She likes to play with balls and socks. She eats wet and dry food mix and is mostly a lap cat. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Very good with kittens and everyone being handled EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Princess was calm and relaxed, lying down. Reaction when softly spoken to: Princess looks at the assessor, and then averts her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Princess becomes alert and focuses on the assessor. Reaction to touch: Princess hisses as the assessor extends their hand and looks around. She appears wary of her surroundings, but she tolerates gentle petting. After a moment, she shifts away to avoid further contact. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cannot evaluate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Cannot evaluate in shelter POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful – Princess has displayed fearful behavior during her behavior evaluation and may be uncomfortable with extended handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Princess tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home and family. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced home. Due to her stress levels in the care center, any future home with children should conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
