I am a neutered male gray tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/30/2017 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was NO TIME.

08/30/17 14:49 Basic Information: Prince is a 5 year old altered male domestic shorthair. He was given as a gift when he was a kitten from a family member. He appears healthy and has no health concerns. Owner surrenders due to no time and financial reasons. Socialization: Prince lived with 4 adults and children ages 2 and 3 years old. Owner stated Prince is friendly and outgoing towards visitors and everyone in the household. He is very gentle towards everyone he greets. His behavior is unknown towards other animals. He’s indoors only and activity level is to a medium. Owner describes Prince as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, independent and quiet. Behavior: Prince has never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. He has a habit on scratching a wooden stool in the kitchen. He’s quiet during car rides and vocal when the grandmother of the house leaves until she returns back home. Prince was given a bath once and never had nail trim. He allows being picked up and held. For a new family to know; Prince is litter box trained and used a hooded litter box. He rarely seeks attention and rather lay down by the windowsill. He eats dry food but when it’s wet he will eat all the food at once. He doesn’t play with toys much since his energy has declined. Prince mostly be around the children in the home if they approach him. Upon intake Prince was calm and relaxed. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Curious, Sweet KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: 4 adults and children ages 2 and 3 years old Behavior toward strangers: friendly and outgoing towards visitors and everyone in the household Behavior toward children: friendly Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Energy level/descriptors: medium activity level Other notes: Former owner describes Prince as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, independent and quiet. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/30/17- Observed Behavior – a little shy, but easily examined and treated with minimal restraint. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/31/17 Sitting up in top cubby, grooming. Stopped and came to the front when door opened, eyes dilated, body a little tense. Started eating offered treats, but occasional hissing. Grumbled and shifted away when touched. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Prince remains neutral, sitting upright in his cage cubby during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Prince eyes open wider, looking around his cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Prince slowly retreats, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Prince seems hesitant, but accepts the touch and began to slowly warm up while exploring his surroundings. Reaction to being picked up: He becomes antsy during pickup then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Prince slowly interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
